Unemployment is a complicated process to navigate. While we are here to help you find fulfilling work, we recognize that is only one piece of the larger puzzle. Workers Compensation/California Dept. of Industrial Relations (1515 Clay St., 6th Floor, Oakland. (800) 736-7401, (510) 622-2866, www.dir.ca.gov): Provides cash benefits for workers when an injury or illness is caused by their work.

SING, Danville (St. Isidore Church: 440 La Gonda Way, Danville. (925) 837-2122 , www.cpcdanville.org/job-connections ): Non-denominational support provides a no-cost referral network and educational programs. Meets Monday night.

Lao Family Community Development, Inc. (LFCD) (2325 East 12th St., Oakland. (510) 533-8850 , www.lfcd.org): Assists diverse refugee, immigrant, limited English, and low-income community members in achieving long-term financial and social self-sufficiency.

Wardrobe for Opportunity (570 14th St., Suite 5, Oakland. (510) 463-4100, www.wardrobe.org): Empowers men and women with acquiring professional clothing, interview skills and the career support needed to become economically self-sufficient. Must have a referral form our office for services.

Disability Issues/Support

California State Disability Insurance (SDI) (7677 Oakport St., Oakland. (800) 480-3287, www.edd.ca.gov): Provides a short-term, partial wage-replacement insurance plan for California workers with injuries or illness not related to the job. Workers covered by SDI are covered by two benefits: Disability Insurance (DI) and Paid Family Leave (PFL).

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) (800) 772-1213, www.ssa.gov/disabilityssi): Federal program providing monthly benefits for long-term disabilities before retirement age.

California BrainWaves (925-804-1718, CABrainWaves.org) Mission is to increase housing, education, research, medical care, specialized training, legal aid, and community support systems for people of all ages & stages with brain and developmental disabilities.

Tiny Blue Dot Recyclers (4966 Hummingbird Rd Pleasanton, 925-352-7952, tinybluedotrecyclers.org) Works to enable careers in E-waste recycling with accommodations for neurodiverse individuals, particularly those moderately to severely impacted by ASD.

Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area (101-J Town and Country Dr. Danville, 925-362-8660, www.dscba.org) Provides support to people with Down syndrome, their families and the community that serves them, while fostering awareness and acceptance in all areas of life.

Financial Assistance

Application and ongoing support services available. Programs include: CalWorks, General Assistance, SNAP/ Food Stamps, Medi-Cal, utility and weatherization assistance.

(510) 574-2020, https://fremont.gov/241/SparkPoint-Fremont): Financial education centers that help individuals and families address immediate financial crises, get back on their feet, and build financially secure futures. Programs including managing credit, increasing income, and building savings and assets.

Earn It! Keep It! Save It! (During tax season, in this office and around the Bay Area, 2-1-1, www.earnitkeepitsaveit.org): A coalition of organizations that provide free tax preparation to low- to moderate-income households.

Consumer Credit Counseling of the East Bay/Money Management International (Online or 7677 Oakport St., Ste. 1130, Oakland, or 3100 Mowry Ave. Ste. 403-A, Fremont. (866) 889.9347, www.cccsebay.org): Provides credit and budget counseling, housing counseling and debt repayment plans. Counseling is face-to-face, online or via telephone.

Partners for Change Tri-Valley (4743 East Ave. Livermore, (925) 583-1635, www.pfctv.org) Empowers people to chart their course out of poverty and toward self-sufficiency by intentionally creating personal relationships that bridge financial class lines.

California Dept. of Fair Employment & Housing (39141 Civic Center Dr., Suite 250, Fremont. , TTY: (800) 700-2320, www.dfeh.ca.gov or www.eeoc.gov): Protects the people of California from employment, housing and public accommodations discrimination and hate violence.

Bay Area Community Law Center (2921 Adeline St., Berkeley. (510) 548-4040, www.ebclc.org): Provides free legal services to eligible East Bay clients. Services fall into broad program areas of Housing, Health & Welfare, Immigration, Economic Security & Opportunity (including low-income and those with criminal records) and Education Defense and Justice for Youth.

Center for Community Dispute Settlement (CCDS) (291 McLeod St., Livermore. (925) 337-7175, www.trivalleymediation.com) The Center for Community Dispute Settlement (CCDS) has been providing mediation services to the Tri-Valley communities and the Alameda County Superior Court since 1995.

Housing Assistance

Livermore Housing Authority (3203 Leahy Way, Livermore. (925) 447-3600, livermoreha.org): Provides safe, decent, and quality affordable housing for residents with limited income. Client seen by appointment only.

Housing Authority of the County of Alameda (HACA) (22941 Atherton St., Hayward. (510) 538-8876, www.haca.net): Operates a number of housing programs administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that provide low-cost rental housing or rental assistance for low-income families, the elderly, people with disabilities, and others, in much of Alameda County.

ECHO Housing (3311 Pacific Ave., Livermore. (925) 449-7340, www.echofairhousing.org): Provides comprehensive housing services including counseling, rental and mortgage assistance programs.

Abode Services (3311 Pacific Ave., Livermore. (925) 373-5313, www.abodeservices.org): Reaches out to persons experiencing homelessness at encampments and other field sites to provide intensive, individual case management.

Goodness Village (1660 Freisman Rd. Livermore, [email protected], gvlivermore.org) Our mission is to improve the lives of the unsheltered population by providing a supportive living community in partnership with local businesses, cities, community members, and partner services agencies.

Monthly Miracles (CommonPoint Nonprofit Center 164 N L St. Livermore, 925-290-8847, www.monthlymiracles.org) Provides assistance to those that are homeless or about to be homeless in the local Tri-Valley area.
